This really needs updating though as who goes out to rent a movie these days etc.! Finally I have found one of the missing links in my endeavor to learn Spanish!
I will tell you the only problem I have with it first, before I go on to say what I like about this Audio book: it is in Latin American Spanish whereas I am learning Castillano Spanish. That said, this audio course is fantastic! The vowel changes which are so important to the Spanish language are said really clearLy.
It is so easy to stop the recording to practice saying aloud the phrase being worked on. And the course is so patient and encouraging. Each chapter builds on the one before yet introduces new concepts of the grammar. It does not deal with grammar ostensibly but it builds spoken Spanish up in a grammatical way. It teaches language as if it were a calm native speaker at your side so you learn it almost as you learned your mother tongue - but not quite.
I am now concentrating more on my aural and oral skills which is obviously a very good thing, thanks to this course. I have been learning Spanish for twelve years and I am living in Spain.
I am glad I learned so much grammar before and it is useful when it comes to understanding the progression in this course, but I used to have to think about the grammatical elements of everything I said, and how labored that was! Finally I am speaking more confidently and fluently using this course. I have bought all three levels.
I have finished levels 2 and 3 and am now starting on the basic level to help oil the wheels and eradicate my early mistakes. Well done - a great audio course! It continues at a quick pace and introduces tons of new material each lesson.
It can be quite frustrating as the fast pace and the slurring of the female actor makes it very difficult at times to hear the verb endings, even with it slowed down. I find that there are several parts where I have to check in the transcript - sometimes I've found that I have been practising the incorrect verb endings, so had to repeat the lesson with the knowledge of the correct ending.
Not sure if I'll ever need to tell a friend that my grand-father has bought more hammers than nails from the iron-mongers though ;-. This course is excellent practice for the intermediate student. The content is interesting which makes the course very enjoyable and motivational.
Enjoyed it, good pronounced words. Easy to follow, i will get the following course. I highly recommend this audiobook for anyone looking to enhance their Spanish skills. Very well planned and formatted. You learn very quickly and they're not too fast. Things are carefully repeated at a good pace to help you pick things up quick. Do it in half hour blocks over a month and you'll be sweet. This programme is really good if you like to learn by repetition.
The philosophy behind the method is to keep changing the subject matter slightly to teach a grammatical point.
This is a successful method and it does work if you do it regularly enough. I would prefer to have more relevant content, it does seem to be a bit distant from real conversation, but as a way to really drive home the grammar and vocabulary, it is as good as any other method.
They speak very clearly but fast enough for it to sound authentic and yet still be able to follow what is being said. Patrick and his team at LSLC do a great job and are always quick to respond to any queries, so once you have bought the product you have a real person to contact if you need any help.
I have been working my way through this intermediate Spanish bundle after the Beginners Spanish Bundle. I find them both useful for practising my ways of thinking in Spanish.
And improving my vocabulary. I have especially enjoyed listening to it on long walks, so I can relax and let the learning soak in while being active. This book is great. Not basic and not too difficult so as to feel disaffected. I can recommend this audiobook for anyone who already knows the basics and wants to go to the next level. Even in the very first lesson not only is the conditional perfect tense in Spanish taught, but the lesson also teaches Spanish vocabulary for attending a party.
By the way, if you're wondering if this program covers the Spanish subjunctive it is not covered in this Learn Advanced Spanish Bundle. However, in Level 2 or the "Learn Intermediate Spanish bundle" every area of the Spanish subjunctive imaginable is thoroughly taught. To wrap up my review, I will add that I highly recommend this program if you want to learn advanced Spanish that is truly on an advanced level and learn Spanish that is very conversational.
I buy all of the ebooks and audiobooks by this author for learning Spanish. I think this one is a little too advanced and that there is a gap between this program and what I learned in the intermediate one.
Although the author calls this Level 3 it is more like the type of Spanish you'd learn at level 7, 8 or 9 at a foreign language learning institute. I never do reviews but I really like this program and hope for a Level 4 in the future. I am not a native Spanish speaker but did do a lot of Spanish in college and over the years, so jumped to this level.
I had been looking for a Spanish practice program to do while driving and this one has been great. For this level though, I would recommend looking at the verb tenses in the written form if you haven't had lots of Spanish classes because it's pretty intense grammar. Also, the pacing is good for repeating while driving, and I like how there are two people who say the sentences. It is well laid out. I have an hour commute to and from work on the in Los Angeles and this along with other audible books has made it much more of a stress free drive.
No I don't work for them. This series has really helped my listening skills! I have the beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons in this series. They're the best in my opinion for learning conversational Spanish. I'd give this program 6 stars if I could.
The sound quality is horrendous and the speakers talk to you in a baby voice instead of a natural tone, which is jarring and unhelpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginner and intermediate lessons but I recommend giving this one a hard pass. This program is awesome. I tried other programs and apps and this is the one for me. I started this series because of the hours of content through the beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses in the series.
The series as a whole lays out all that you need to get started communicating in Spanish. I can say my speed and comprehension continues to improve as I practice my ability to speak through this series and my ability to comprehend through reading Spanish novels and watching tv shows and movies in Spanish. However, I have been studying foreign languages for at least 30 years and have achieved either fluency or semi fluency in several languages.
Without a doubt, this is one of the best advanced level programs I have used. One of the best things about this method of instruction is that it is very intriguing and it will keep you alert and wanting to learn more with this program. There are also some additional audio lessons which teach when and how to use por and para in Spanish. I found that very helpful since por and para have always been a difficult area for me to learn with respect to Spanish grammar.
Another major feature about this audiobook is that it only features native Spanish speakers which I consider a huge benefit because it guarantees that I learn how to correctly pronounce all of the different words and phrases in the Spanish language. I also like that there are 17 hours of audio lessons in this audiobook which I consider to be a lot of content.
